Obituary of Robert McIntyre
Robert James McIntyre (affectionately known as "Bobby"), 71, of Blakeslee, died on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Geisinger Medical Center in Wyoming Valley. He was the loving husband of Dolores (Abrams) McIntyre with whom he celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary on May 18th.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Patrick and Claire (Conahan) McIntyre.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as a telephone repairman with Verizon for 35 years until his retirement in 2004. Robert later worked part-time as a wide load escort. He was a member of the CWA, the Telephone Pioneers of America and the VFW. He served as a Shop Steward for Local 1106 for nearly 20 years.
He enjoyed vacationing at Lake George with his family and most of all spending time with and spoiling his grandchildren. Robert had a strong interest in and was extremely knowledgeable of the events of World War II. He was an avid reader who enjoyed science fiction novels and had a large collection of John Wayne memorabilia. He enjoyed listening to 50's music and songs by Johnny Cash. Robert spent most of his years with the love of his life, Dolores (his "Lori"), to whom he would say, "Me to You" in place of "I love you".
In addition to his loving wife, Dolores, he is also survived by four daughters: Cheryl McIntyre, Fern Brown, April McIntyre, Kerry McKoy; two brothers: Patrick McIntyre, Dennis McIntyre; seven grandchildren: Edward, Mark, Jasmine, Kayla, Christopher, Naia, Caitlin; and several nieces and nephews.
