Obituary of Carmen Palma

Carmen Palma, 92, of Cresco, died Wednesday, March 10 at the VNA Hospice House of Monroe County. He was the husband of the late Catherine Palma. Born in Pen Argyl, he was the son of the late Angelo and Angelica (Catino) Palma. Before his retirement, Carmen was the owner of Palma Fashions in Tannersville. A member of the Army 36th Infantry, he was a combat wounded veteran who received the Purple Heart during World War II. He was a former Deacon at St. Joseph's Episcopal Church in West Bangor and Trinity Episcopal Church in Mt. Pocono. He also served on the Pocono Mountain School Board. Carmen was a member of Masonic Lodge #780 and the Evan Blitz American Legion Post #922 in Cresco. He was also a former member of the Lion and Elks Clubs. Carmen was the Founder and President of the Highland Open at Pocono Manor Golf Course. He is survived by a daughter, Angelica Palma of Harrisburg; a sister, Susan Eckstein of West Allentown; one granddaughter Michelle Brito and her husband Amable of Washington, D.C.; and a great granddaughter, Carmen. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Raymond, and Louis Palma. Veteran Chaplain Jim Mills will conduct a Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 20 at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. There will be a visitation at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment of ashes and military honors will follow the service at St. Joseph's Episcopal Cemetery in West Bangor. Private cremation was entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA Hospice House of Monroe County, 502 Independence Road, East Stroudsburg, Pa. 18301
