Obituary of Marvin Purser

Marvin B. Purser, 75, of Pocono Lake died Thursday, March 4 at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of the late Barbara J. Purser. Born in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Marvin B. and Luella (Marston) Purser. Before his retirement, he was a Parking Garage Manager and a member of the Teamsters Union. Until October of 2009, he worked as a security guard at Locust Lake Village. Marvin served as an usher and active member of St. Maximilian Kolbe parish in Pocono Lake. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He is survived by three sons, Michael Purser and his wife, Sandra of the Bronx, NY, Kevin Purser of York, Joseph Purser and his wife, Jasmin of Blakeslee; two daughters, Eileen Davis and her husband, Bill of Pocono Lake, Diana Sylvander of York; a brother, Ralph E. Purser of Murrells Inlet, S. Carolina; twelve grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Barbara, he was preceded in death by a brother, Vincent Purser. There will be a viewing on Sunday, March 7 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. The Reverend Father John Boyle will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 8 at St. Maximilian Kolbe in Pocono Lake, with a viewing from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg.
