Obituary of Grover Kiick

Grover Anthony Kiick, 95, of Tannersville, formerly of Rahway, NJ, died Tuesday, February 9 at the VNA Hospice House of Monroe County in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Kathy (Dolan) Kiick, to whom he was married for 23 years. Born in North Bergen, NJ, he was the son of the late Grover and Rose (Witzemann) Kiick. Grover served as the engineer aboard the submarine U.S.S. Pipefish during W.W.II and was known as the "Oil King" by his fellow shipmates. He also served as a Merchant Marine. He retired from Merck and Co. in Rahway, N.J. where he worked for 39 years as a Power Plant Engineer. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Knights of Columbus, in Rahway, N.J, the V.F.W and Word War II Sub Vets of Hackensack, NJ and the Sub Vets, Inc. in Pocono Pines. In addition to his wife, Kathy, Grover is survived by two sons: Grover M. Kiick and Dennis M. Kiick; two step- daughters: Nancy Johnson and Ruth Clark; two grandsons: Chris and David and several great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John Kiick. Majors Robert E. and Ruth C. Vaughan will conduct a Funeral Service on Friday, February 12 at 11:00 am at the Bolock Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 940 and 390, Paradise Valley. There will be a viewing from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
