Obituary of Martha Hametz

Martha Hametz, 78, of Mt. Pocono, died Thursday, March 9 at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the widow of Joseph Hametz, who passed away in 2003. Born in Beaver Meadows, she was the daughter of the late Roman and Helen (Andrejeco) Goida. She was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Church in Pocono Summit Martha is survived by two sons, Robert Hametz and his wife, Millie of Mt. Pocono, Joseph Hametz, Jr. of Mt. Pocono; a daughter, Martha Anne Smith and her husband Lloyd of Long Pond; a sister, Helen Kacmar of Hazelton; grandchildren; Eric, Ryan, and Patrick Smith of Long Pond, Krisi Gallagher & her husband Bob, of Stroudsburg, Joseph and his wife Imelda Hametz of Scotland, Theresa Hametz of Greentown and Krystal Nelson-Hametz of Mt. Pocono; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Hametz , three sisters, Mary, Anna, and Theresa Goida; and four brothers, John, George, Michael, and Raymond Goida. The Reverend Father Michael Salnicky will conduct a Panachida service at 9:15 a.m. on Monday, March 13 at the Bolock Funeral Home, followed by a Divine Funeral Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Pocono Summit. Interment will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg. There will be a viewing on Sunday, March 12 from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley.
