Obituary of William Briscoe

William P. Briscoe, Jr., 80, of Mountainhome, died Wednesday, May 10 at home. He was the husband of Patricia (Barry) Briscoe, to whom he was married for 42 years. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late William and Geneva (Galloupe) Briscoe. Before his retirement in 1988, William was employed as a cook on a tugboat in New York for Marania Tanker Lines. He lived in Mountainhome for the past 30 years, where he was an active member of the American Legion, Post #922,and served as kitchen master. He was a United States Navy veteran who served during World War II. He was also a member of the Slate-Belt Shooting Association. He was an avid hunter, fisher, trapshooting enthusiast, and loved working in the garden. In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by two sons, William E. Briscoe and his wife Prudence of Florida, Bradley W. Brisco of Florida; a daughter, Theresa C. Briscoe of Lancaster; a sister, Irene Arthur of Fort Worth, Texas; many grandchildren, including special granddaughters, Ashleigh and Hunter. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane C. Galowski, two brothers, Robert Briscoe and John Briscoe; and a sister, Thalia. There will be a viewing from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, with military honors at 2:00 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. Cremation will follow the viewing.
