Obituary of John Glapinski

John "Jack" A. Glapinski, 77, of Cresco, Pa formerly of Buffalo, died Sunday, June 27 at home. Born in Buffalo, he was the son of the late John and Lottie (Pawlaczyk) Glapinski. Jack served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After being discharged from the U.S. Army, he re-enlisted to the U.S. Navy Reserves Seabees. Jack was employed as a carpenter and glazer for the Iroquois Door Co. in Buffalo. He was a member of the VFW Post 1419 in Hamburg, where he served on the Post Honor Guard. He enjoyed woodworking. Jack is survived by his three children: Carolyn Glapinski of Daytona, Fl, Donna Alker and her husband Robert G. of Cresco, Pa and John S. Glapinski and his wife Tina of Rock Hill, S.C.; four grandchildren: Tom Glapinski of Rock Hill, S.C., Emily Alker of Cresco, Pa and Jay & Joelle Glapinski of Rock Hill, S.C.; three sisters: Angie, Joanne and Pat; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by five sisters. There will be a Memorial Service on Tuesday, July 6 at 6:00 pm at VFW Post 1419, 2985 Lakeview Road, Hamburg, with a reception to immediately follow. Private Cremation will have taken place at the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory, Paradise Valley, Pa. Interment of Jack's ashes will take place at the Alexandria National Cemetery, Alexandria, Va. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Salvation Army, 960 Main Street Buffalo, NY 14202.
