Obituary of Pearl Mitchell-Brush
Pearl Beehler Mitchell-Brush, 72, of Tobyhanna, died on Monday, October 3 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Hamilton Township. She was the wife of Robert Brush.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John G. and Dorothy (Price) Beehler. She was raised in Tobyhanna. Pearl graduated from Pocono Mountain School (Coolbaugh High School) class of 1957 where she was the Salutatorian of her class and Prom Queen. She was very happy when she and her husband, Bob bought their first house in Tobyhanna.
Before her retirement, Pearl was a Librarian Secretary at the Coolbaugh Elementary Center for 29 years in the Pocono Mountain School District.
In addition to her husband, Robert, she is survived by two sons, Timothy Mitchell and his wife, Lisa of Roseto, David Mitchell and his wife, Arlene of Bethehem; a step-son, Brian Brush of Bethlehem; a step-daughter, Shawn Brush of York; a brother, John K. Beehler of Tobyhanna; a sister Helen Youngblood of Eugene, OR; two grandchildren, Maci and Timmy Mitchell of Roseto; and a step-granddaughter, Sarah Brush. Second only to her love of life and family were her two cats, Puss and Charlie. She was preceded in death by brothers; Kenneth, Edward, William and Stanley Beehler; sisters, Mildred Darko and infant sister Mary.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, October 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Tobyhanna United Methodist Church in Tobyhanna. Pastor Jon Hall will conduct a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at St. Pauls Cemetery in Swiftwater.
