Obituary of Thomas Jankowsky

Thomas Robert "TJ" Jankowsky, 63, died unexpectedly at his Tobyhanna home on June 30th with his beloved wife "Terry" (Esther Totaro) at his side. Raised in Iselin NJ by Rosalie (Finochio) and Edward Jankowsky with brother Edward (who all predeceased him), he graduated from John F. Kennedy High School before enlisting in the US Army (Fort Benning, GA 1st Brigade, Infantry). TJ spent his 40-year career and free time on the open road as a tanker truck driver with numerous awards for safety and as motorcycle enthusiast who parlayed his sense of adventure into philanthropy. "Rolling Thunder" and "Polar Bear" runs were among his favorites. He organized many motorcycling fundraisers and held offices in bike clubs. He was also a dedicated supporter of Veterans assistance organizations. His work ethic, selfless commitment to service, devotion to family and simple sensibilities will forever be valued by his children: Michael Edmonds and his wife Loring of Millis MA, Ann Skerchek and her husband Michael of Winfield Park NJ, Jennifer Johns and her husband Harry of Milltown NJ, and Tammy Prinzo and her husband Thomas of Long Pond PA. He often shared his pride in his seven grandchildren, niece and two nephews. The Reverend Father Bryan Wright will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am Monday July 5 at St Ann's Church, 2 Main St., Tobyhanna. Military Honors and a reception will follow the Mass.
