Obituary of Rose C. Landi
Rose C. Landi, 86, formerly of Mountainhome, died peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at Pocono Tranquil Gardens in East Stroudsburg. She was the loving wife of the late Genaro Landi, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage.
Born in Orange, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Popalardo) Chirichella.
Rose was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved to cook and play Rummikub. Rose was a volunteer at Pocono Medical Center, as well as the Nearly New Shop in Mountainhome. Over the years she had several occupations, including secretary, working at the family restaurant, Landi's in Cresco, was a partner in a ceramic business and most recently a saleswoman at Musselman Jewelers, formerly at the Stroud Mall.
She was generous, loyal and quick-witted. Rose will be sorely missed. Her family would like to thank all the staff at Pocono Tranquil Gardens who took such wonderful care of her. Rose was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Church of St. Bernadette in Canadensis.
She is survived by her son, Michael Landi and his wife, Carol, of Tannersville; her grandchildren: Jennifer Reinders of Puyallup, Washington, and Erin Landi of Philadelphia; and her great-granddaughter, Emily Rose Reinders. Rose was honorary grandmother to Jessica Hicks and Bill Lower, and honorary great-grandmother to Katie and Grace Hicks. In addition to her husband, Genaro, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Chirichella.
There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, and from 9 a.m. until time of Mass, Saturday, Oct. 4, at Bolock Funeral Home & Crematory, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Rev. Paul Fontanella will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Church of St. Bernadette in Canadensis. Burial will follow Mass at Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 57 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre PA 18701.
Private cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home & Crematory.
