Obituary of Theresa James
Theresa James, 78, of Long Pond, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at her home. She was the loving wife of Roosevelt James Sr., to whom she had been married for 55 years.
Born in Manning, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Selvyn and Annie (Starks) Levy.
Theresa accepted Christ at a young age and walked with the Lord until her passing into eternal life. She had a passion for flowers and pressing her luck at local casinos. But her biggest role in life was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her husband, Roosevelt, she is survived by her children: Deborah Phillips and her husband, Elijah, of Scranton; Roosevelt James Jr. of German; Gregory James of Long Pond; her sisters: MaryJane Wells of Long Island City, New York; and Odessa Williams and her husband, Warren, of Brooklyn, New York; her grandchildren: Brandy Jamie James and Mina Maria James; her great-grandson, Brandon Justice James; and a host of nieces and nephews. Theresa was preceded in death by her brother, John A. Levy and sister, Lillian Mae Sheriff.
There will be a viewing from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Rev. Gary Hughes will conduct a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
