Obituary of Joseph Mahon

Joseph E. Mahon, Sr., 87, of Canadensis, died on Sunday, October 9, 1924 at the Lackawanna Health and Rehab Center in Olyphant. He was the husband of the late Agnes K. (Borst) Mahon. Born in New Providence, NJ, he was the son of the late William and Helen (Fitzpatrick) Mahon. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II. Before his retirement, Joseph worked with the Transport of New Jersey as a bus driver. Joseph enjoyed his job and became very sociable because of it. He also liked to fish and to take care of his home and his property. He is survived by two sons: Joseph E. Mahon, Jr. of Greentown, John W. Mahon of Canadensis; three sisters: Mary Mahon of Westfield, NJ, Ann Blackwell of Troy, N.C., Agnes Mortimer of Temple, PA; and two grandchildren: John and Sean Mahon. In addition to his wife Agnes, he was preceded in death by his son Gary J. Mahon. There will be a viewing on Friday, October 14 from 2-4 pm and from 7-8:30 pm at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Rts. 940 & 390 in Cresco. The Reverend Father Gregory Loughney will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 15 at 9:00 am at The Church of St. Bernadette, Rte. 390 in Canadensis. Burial will follow at St. Theresa's Cemetery, Passaic Avenue in Summit, NJ.
