Obituary of Jack George
Jack George passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2014, at home, surrounded by family and friends. He was 86.
Born in Philadelphia to Assyrian immigrants, Babajohn and Helen George, Jack was a veteran of World War II, serving as a UDT diver in the US Navy. An expert skier and avid fly-fisherman, he settled in Pocono Township, working at Camelback mountain as a ski instructor, and becoming a member of Trout Unlimited Conservation Organization. Prior to retiring in 2010, Jack worked in New York City for Bistate Oil Company, specializing in oil and natural gas exploration.
His dedication to his family, friends and community were best illustrated by his daily mantra, "I first thank G-d for life, and then I ask how I can be a blessing to someone today."
In keeping with his spirit, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a charitable cause close to the giver's heart. Two charities close to Jack's were Meals on Wheels (monroemeals.com/donations) and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital(shop.stjude.org).
He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Linda; daughters Dona Lyn George and Dr. Susan Rauch, and son Joshua George; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
