Obituary of George L. Rinker

George L. Rinker, 89, of Scotrun, died Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Stroudsburg. He was the loving husband of the late Flora (Albert) Rinker to whom he had been married for 64 years. A proud veteran, George served with the United States Navy during WWII. Before retirement, he worked with the International Boiler Workers Company as a welder and for the Pocono Township Park. He coached the Tannersville Babe Ruth team and was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Eagles Club and the Pocono Jackson Historical Society. George was also a volunteer for the Tobyhanna food pantry. He is survived by his son, George Rinker and his wife, Martha of Whitehaven, his daughter, Ellen Rose and her husband, Adrian of Scotrun; brothers, Wade Rinker of Cresco, John Rinker of Scotrun, Franklin Rinker of Reeders; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters. In addition to his wife, Flora, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Irene Duncan and sister, Norma Howey. There will be a memorial service Saturday, January 24 at 3 p.m. at the Scotrun Lutheran Church.
