Obituary of Alice B Ritter
Alice Burrowes Ritter, 94, of Tobyhanna, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Brookmont Healthcare Center in Effort, PA. She was the loving wife of the late Frederick Ritter to whom she had been married for 66 years.
Born in Chattanooga, TN she was the daughter of the late Robert Morgan and Sarah (Smith) Burrowes.
Alice was a devoted alumnus and was the last surviving member of the Wesleyan College Class of 1942 in Macon, GA. She later continued her education at Long Island University where she received her Master's Degree in Library Science.
Alice was a loving mother and doting wife. She waited out the war for the return of her true love and soon to be husband, Frederick. Once married, they raised their family in Port Washington, NY. She was the librarian for the nationally recognized Harley School in Rochester, NY and was an active member at the Third Presbyterian Church also in Rochester.
She is survived by her two children: Kathryn Vicich and her husband John of Tobyhanna; Scott Ritter and his wife Sandra of Powell River, BC; sister in law: Lois Flood of Dallas, TX; two granddaughters: Alexandra Devin and Jennifer Ritter and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at a later date in Rochester, NY.
