Obituary of William Fueyo
William Vincent Fueyo died February 10, 2015, having courageously faced two years of increasingly difficult treatment for cancer. He was born March 6, 1954 in Jersey City, NJ, the only son of Rita (Pepper) Fueyo and the late Vincent X. Fueyo.
Bill was intelligent, lively, and full of good humor, not just with family and friends, but with everyone he met. He was a man of many talents, which he freely shared. Trained and employed in commercial plumbing, he was uniquely capable in many aspects of home repair. With a curious mind and interest in the world, Bill lived and worked in New Jersey and California before settling in East Stroudsburg in the early 1990’s.
His love of fishing was only surpassed by gardening, which was his great joy, and he delighted in providing a bounty of summer vegetables for the family table, and to share with friends. His hot peppers were legendary. Politics and world affairs fascinated Bill, and he enjoyed sharpening his wits in conversation.
During his father’s long illness Bill was the family’s mainstay, and dedicated himself to helping his father and supporting his mother at every step. In the five years since, he was his mother’s protector, champion, and best friend, even through his own trials.
In addition to his mother, Bill is survived by his sisters, Janet Elston and Dolores Sanders Robinson and husband Steve, uncle William Pepper and wife RoseMarie, niece Rita Elston, nephews Kevin Morris and wife Azure, Alex Morris and wife Samantha, and great-nieces Szavanna and Rachel. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his sister Mary Morris and his brother-in-law Pete Elston. He had many loving cousins here and in California.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held in March.
