Obituary of Sonia S. Kessler

Sonia S. Kessler, (Hebrew name, Sora Hanna) 77, of Cresco, and formerly of Falmouth Cape Cod, MA and Bloomfield, CT, died Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Hospice House of Monroe County in East Stroudsburg. She was the loving wife of the late Leon Kessler. Born January 6, 1938, in Glen Ridge, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Pauline (Martin) Susskind. Sonia was a graduate of both Bucknell University and the Yale School of Drama. She later went on to become the tax collector for Windsor, CT. She was a former member of the Beth Hillel Synagogue, Bloomfield, CT and Falmouth Jewish Congregation in Falmouth, MA. She is survived by two sons, Michael Kessler, Stephen Kessler and wife Karin; daughter in law, Claudine Kessler; and 6 grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Leon, she was preceded in death by her sons Nathan and David Kessler, and her sister Jeri (Susskind) Roeben. Graveside services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, February 24 at King Solomon Memorial Park, Dwasline Road, Clifton, NJ.
