Obituary of George Wilson, Jr.

George Wilson Jr., 79, of Long Pond, died Friday, February 27 at home. He was the loving husband of Gloria (Franks) Wilson, to whom he was married for 56 years. Born in Pocono Lake, he was the son of George Wilson Sr. and Cora (Meckes) Wilson. Following his service in the United States Navy, George was the Chief of Police for many years in Pocono Pines, and was later an officer in Stroud Township until his retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post 413. In addition to his wife Gloria, George is survived by one son, Matthew Wilson of Long Pond; one grandson, Nickolas; and great grandsons, Elijah, Vincent, and Nickolas Jr. He was predeceased by his son, Mark Wilson. A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 5 at 4 pm at Bolock Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. There will be a visitation held from 3 pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in George’s honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
