Obituary of Carleen M. O'Brien

Carleen M. O'Brien, 51, of East Stroudsburg, died with her family by her side on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown after fighting a long courageous battle against cancer. She was the loving and devoted wife of Joseph S. Marko for 15 years. Born in Bronx, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late James and Marion (Fox) O'Brien. Carleen graduated in 1981 from Carteret High School in Carteret, N.J. She was a medical secretary for both Beckman-Coulter Medical and Pocono Medical Center, and most recently worked for Berkheimer in Bangor. Carleen was very talented and enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting, needlepoint and quilting. She was an avid reader and loved challenging herself with puzzles of all types and sizes. In addition to her husband, Joseph, she is survived by her son, Joseph J. Marko of East Stroudsburg; daughter Katie Marko of East Stroudsburg; sister Karen O'Brien Kilmurray, husband William and their daughter, Keely, of East Stroudsburg; sister Marion O'Brien of South Dakota; brother James O'Brien of Bayonne N.J.; and father-in-law Jozsef Marko of Edison, N.J. There will be a viewing from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Rev. Gregory Loughney will conduct a blessing service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Carleen may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1717. Private cremation is entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
