Obituary of Dolores McIntyre
Dolores McIntyre, 74, of Blakeslee, died Friday, April 24, 2015, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley in Wilkes-Barre. She was the loving wife of the late Robert “Bobby” McIntyre, who passed in 2011.
Born in Harlem, New York, on Feb. 18, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Janie Abrams.
Dolores grew up in Flushing, New York. She graduated from Flushing High School in 1959 and went on to secretarial school. She married her sweetheart, Bobby, on May 18, 1961, started a family and worked as a secretary for various companies for many years.
Her loving and caring spirit later led her to positions as a caregiver to countless children.
Dolores was an avid collector of Americana and kitsch. She loved the beach and barbecuing. She enjoyed vacationing with her family in Lake George, New York, and driving cross country on several occasions with her husband. She relished every moment that she spent with her daughters and later her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was funny and fun-loving. Yet, she had a strong spiritual core. No matter where she was or what else she was doing, she read her Bible every day.
In 2004, she and her husband retired and built their dream home in the Poconos. She enjoyed the peaceful quiet of her new surroundings. Ever the social butterfly, she became an active member of the Pocono Pines Senior Center.
Selfless and generous, patient and kind, Dolores was loved by all. A wonderful conversationalist who could talk to just about anyone, Dolores made many, many friends for life.
She is survived by four daughters: Cheryl McIntyre, Fern Brown, April McIntyre, and Kerry McKoy and her husband, Keith; brother Eddie Abrams and his wife, Stephanie; seven grandchildren: Edward, Mark, Jasmine, Kayla, Christopher, Naia and Caitlin; two great-grandchildren, Louis Jr. and Jayden; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Robert, Dolores was preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie Abrams and sister, Molly Nell.
There will be a visitation from 3:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Private cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
