Obituary of Kent Norwood Smith

Kent Norwood Smith, 62, of Long Pond, died on April 28, 2015 at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He was the loving husband of Susan(Stinnett) Smith. Born in Sacramento, CA he was the son of the late Cecil and Phyllis (Archer) Smith. A proud veteran, Kent served with the United States Air Force, working as an electronic technician. He also worked civil service at Sacramento Army Depot and McClellan AFB in Sacramento. He then relocated to the Poconos to work at Tobyhanna Army Depot. He was also employed part-time by the Liquor Control Board and worked at the Wine & Spirits in Blakeslee during his retirement. He loved to travel and would often visit locations that housed volcanoes and other geological phenomenon. Kent had a large and elaborate collection of rare rocks that even included meteorites. He had a strong affection for all animals and adopted several over the years. In his leisure time you could find him curled up to a good movie or book. Kent loved sports and was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins, San Francisco 49ers and SF Giants fan. In addition to his wife, Susan, he is survived by his two children: Wesley and April.
