Obituary of Esther Jankowsky

Esther "Terry" (Totaro) Jankowsky, passed at age 70 on May 12, 2015 in her Tobyhanna, home with her family to be reunited with her husband, Thomas 'T.J.' Jankowsky who had predeceased her. A true "Jersey girl", she was raised with her younger sister by Winifred (Conrad) and Angelo Totaro in Elizabeth, N.J., her father having emigrated through Ellis Island in 1917 from Mont St. Angelo, Italy. She eventually settled in Winfield Park, N.J. Terry was the classic matriarch whose bountiful Italian dinners became favorite traditions. With T.J. she rode sidecar for motorcycle charity runs, enjoyed camping at Lake Adventure and Lake George, spoiling their dachshunds, and later loved traveling with her family to the Jersey Shore, Wells, Maine and to Punta Gorda, FL hosted by dear friends. Recently she took up crocheting and gifted family and friends with heirlooms. Her grace, fortitude and generosity will be forever treasured by her children, Michael Edmonds and his wife, Loring of Millis, MA, Ann Skerchek and her husband, Michael of Winfield Park, NJ, Jennifer Johns and her husband, Harry of Milltown, NJ, and Tammy Prinzo and her husband, Thomas of Tobyhanna, with whom she lived. Terry was immensely proud of her seven grandchildren, Michael, Katelyn, Melissa, Kyle, Austin, Tomas and Josie and besotted by her four great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister Conjetta "Connie" Russo of Brick, N.J.; nephews, Richard Russo of Cranford, NJ, Ed Jankowsky, Jr. of Pemberton, N.J. and niece, Karen Benson of Edison, N.J. A small garden memorial service is being planned in N.J. The charity closest to her heart was: Celtic Healthcare at 150 Scharberry Lane Mars, PA 16046.
