Obituary of Sofia Tajs

Sofia Tajs, 90, of Cresco, died Monday, June 1, 2015, at the VNA Hospice House in East Stroudsburg. Born in Krzczonow, Poland, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Katherine (Kalsut) Pietrcak. For many years, she worked as a seamstress in New Jersey, operating the specialized Merrow sewing machine. After moving to the Poconos, she worked at Mount Airy Resort and Paradise Stream Resort as a housekeeper. She is survived by her daughter, Marta Costanzo and her husband, Dean, of Cresco; her sister, Jozefa Mastaj of Cresco; and several nieces and nephews. Sofia was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Pietrcak and her sister, Mary Lapinski. There will be a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Private cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made at Bolock Funeral Home. At the request of the family, those donations will be forwarded to the Mount Pocono Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
