Obituary of Joseph Genovesi
Joseph R. Genovesi, 73, of Tobyhanna, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 11th surrounded by his family at the Geisinger CMC Hospice Unit in Scranton. He was the loving husband of Jean (McLees) Genovesi.
Born in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of the late Bartolo and Margaret (Porcello) Genovesi.
Joseph was a businessman and artist. He owned and operated two Carvel Ice Cream Stores and worked as a fashion illustrator for both JC Penny and Macy’s. He was known for his active lifestyle and enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends.
He was a sports fan, his favorite being golf. When you didn’t see him on the golf course you could find him in his art studio, which he beautifully built himself. He was a kind compassionate man who was loved by all and will be missed by many.
In addition to his wife, Jean, he is survived by his daughter: Jeanie Leibman and husband Aaron of Leesport; his son: Joseph Genovesi and wife Cristina of Hoboken, NJ; his brother: Dr. Michael Genovesi and wife Peggy of West Hartford Ct; and grandchildren: Spencer, Charlie and Cecilia.
There will be a viewing on Friday, August 14 from 4-7pm at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Reverend Father Gregory Loughney will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, August 15 at 10:00am at St. Mary of the Mount Church, 27 Fairview Ave. Mount Pocono.
Private cremation is entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
