Obituary of Kevin M. Sweeney
Kevin M. Sweeney, 58, of Pocono Summit, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at his home. He was the loving husband of Sharon (Turner) Sweeney.
Born in Denville, NJ he was the son of the late Thomas and Antoinette (Shortell) Sweeney.
An auto mechanic by trade, Kevin owned and operated a service station in Randolph, NJ. He later went on to do Hazmat and Environmental Remediation work until his disability no longer enabled him to work.
Kevin was known for his friendly and welcoming demeanor, those who knew him could always count on a good story or joke. His will be remembered as an avid spoon and washboard player at all family parties and the type of person everyone who came in contact with him wanted to know. He had a passion for cars and frequented car shows, as well as air shows.
In addition to his wife, Sharon, he is survived by his son, Kevin Sweeney and girlfriend, Noza Farrukhzoda of Sparta, NJ; brothers: Richard Sweeney and his wife Joy of Randolph, NJ, Tom Sweeney and his wife Nancy of Sparta, NJ; sisters: Sharon Kepler and her husband Pete of VA; Marybeth Moss and her husband Joe of VA; Kathy Scatchard and her husband Dan of VA; Kim Lindsley and her husband Herb of Sparta, NJ, Tammy Kehoe and her husband Tom of Sparta, NJ; brother in law: Chester Turner and his wife Bernadine of Mount Pocono and twenty three nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his uncle, Daniel Sweeney.
There will be a viewing on Saturday, August 29 from 11 am to 1 pm at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. There will be a blessing service at 1 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Kevin may be made to Most Holy Trinity Parish, 236 Route 390, Cresco, 18326.
Private cremation is entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
