Obituary of Jennie Malinowski
Jennie Malinowski, 95, of Tobyhanna, died Aug. 30, 2015 at home. She was the loving wife of the late Edward Malinowski who passed away on July 4, 1990.
Born in Canton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Jan and Mary (Gurna) Kotynski of Pizestizele, Poland. As a small child Jennie returned to Poland with her parents and sisters and lived on the family farm until 1939. Due to the impending war, Jennie and her sister, Alice, moved to Brooklyn, New York, to be near their sister, Wanda.
Jennie and her husband raised their children in Richmond Hill, New York, before they moved to Hemlock Farms in 1989. In 1995, after her husbands passing, Jennie moved to Tobyhanna to be near her son and his family. Jennie loved to prepare favorite foods for her family, especially blintzes, macaroni and cheese, stuffed mushrooms, and sour cream cake. Also, Jennie liked to listen to music, watch television, read, and work in her garden.
She is survived by her loving sons, Michael Malinowski and his wife, Judy, of Tobyhanna and Stefan Malinowski and his wife, Hyginia, of Dearborn Heights, Michigan; and daughter, Diane Leis of Tularosa, New Mexico. Jennie was a loving and devoted grandmother to Erik Malinowski and his wife, Rebecca, of San Mateo, California, Kristin Davis and her husband, Bradley, of Somerville, Massachusetts, and James Malinowski of Tobyhanna; and a doting great-grandmother to Tomás Malinowski. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia (Wanda) Herman, Elsie (Alice) Lucibello; brother, Edwin Kotynski; and son-in-law, Ward W. Leis II.
