Obituary of John Weaver

John D. Weaver, 80, of Tannersville, died on Friday, November 4, 2011 at home. He was the loving husband of Dorothy (Longacre) Weaver to whom he had been married for 56 years. Born in Annville, he was the son of the late Martin E. and Verda A. (Garber) Weaver. He attended Pocono Mountain Bible Fellowship Church. For many years, John was a member of Ebenezer Bible Chapel in Elverson, where he served in various positions, including Deacon and song leader. He was very devoted to his family and his church, and enjoyed traveling with his wife Dorothy. John and his wife visited many areas, including Prince Edward Island, the Erie Canal, the Grand Canyon and even visited with and sang along with the Trapp Family in Stowe Vermont. John was also a strong advocate and volunteer for the American Red Cross. In addition to his wife Dorothy, he is survived by a son: David Weaver of New Holland; four daughters: Bonnie Ellison and her husband Raymond of Mansfield, Linda Weaver of Tannersville, Wendy Weaver of Tannersville, Sharon White and her husband Christopher of Tannersville; a brother: Richard Weaver and his wife Marilyn of Myerstown; a sister Ruth Stoltzfus of Elizabethtown; seven grandchildren: Donald Thompson and his wife Erica, Andrew Thompson and his wife Heidi, Chad Weaver, Christopher White, Jr., Daniel White, Lindsey White, Angela White; and four great-grandchildren: Grace, Katherine, Rachel and Jacob Thompson. There will be a viewing on Friday, November 11 from 9-10:00 a.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of routes 940 & 390 in Cresco, and from 1-2:00 pm at Ebenezer Bible Chapel, 289 Warwick Furnace Road, Elverson. Pastor Boyd will conduct a funeral service at the church at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Ebenezer Bible Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John's honor may be made to Pocono Mountain Bible Fellowship Church, 141 Montanesca Road, P.O. Box 300, Mount Pocono, PA 18344, or to the American Red Cross, 322 Park Avenue, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
