Obituary of Mary Montefusco

Mary Montefusco, 79, of Tobyhanna and formerly of Union City, New Jersey, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at Hackensack University Hospital in Hackensack, New Jersey. She was the loving wife of Joseph Montefusco; they shared 44 years of marriage. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Amelia (Radner) Flanigan. Mary was raised by her mother and stepfather Francis Flanigan. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and had a love for theatre, especially the opera. Mary was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Anthony of Padua in Union City, New Jersey. In addition to her husband, Joseph, she is survived by her son, Charles Montefusco and his wife, Fanny, of Rutherford, New Jersey; her stepson, Joseph Montefusco and his wife, Diane, of Virginia; her daughter, Maryjo Rivera and her husband, Benny, of Tobyhanna; her sisters: Catherine Flanigan, Margaret Hurtuk, Frances Flanigan, Dorothy Kearins and Elaine Mannino; and her grandchildren: Cheyennelynn Rivera, Christian Montefusco and Serena Otazu. Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Flanigan and a granddaughter, Sabrina Montefusco. There will be a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Rev. Sean Carpenter will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish 5112 Pocono Crest Road, Pocono Pines. Burial will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
