Obituary of Shirley A. Rider

Shirley Ann (Keiper) Rider, 78, of Tobyhanna, passed away peacefully October 12, 2015. Born at home in Mt. Pocono to late Arthur R. and Emma (VanHorn) Keiper, to whom she was the only daughter. She was married for 59 years this November to CW4 Ret. Harry D. Rider, Jr. with whom she traveled many places during his military career. Shirley was a 1955 graduate of Stroudsburg High School. In addition to her husband, Harry D. Rider, Jr. she is survived by her daughter, Sandra Rider of Manassas, VA; son, Bradley Rider and his wife, Cindi of Tobyhanna; daughter-in-law, Kristin Rider of Reeders; grandchildren: Harry D. Rider V, Briana Rider, Paul Rider; Anthony Pulli, Brent Pulli and Gage Haas; as well as, great-grandson, Jamisen D. Rider. Also surviving are brothers: John T. Keiper and his wife, Joan and Ronald N. Keiper; and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by brothers: Harold A. Keiper and Francis B. Keiper; sons: Harry D. Rider IV and Brian K. Rider; and granddaughter Megan A. Rider. There will be a viewing from 10 to 12 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 12 p.m., Saturday, October 17, at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco, PA 18326. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances can be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street Alexandria, VA 22311.
