Obituary of Gregory Allan Robinson
OBITUARY
Gregory Allan Robinson, 48, passed away at his home on Monday, surrounded by his family and his cherished pets, Nikon and Raven, after a valiant seven-year battle with cancer.
Greg was born on September 13, 1967 in Las Vegas, Nevada. His parents are Gerald and Elaine (Hamre) Robinson of Sun City West, Arizona.
Greg was a 1985 graduate of Woods Cross High School, Woods Cross, Utah. He served on the USS Carl Vinson with the U.S. Navy from 1987–1991. Greg graduated from the University of Utah in 2004 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. He recently retired from the Resource Management office as a Budget Analyst for the U.S. Army at Picatinny Arsenal, Picatinny, New Jersey. During his retirement ceremony, he awarded a Superior Civilian Service Award from his Command, culminating 15 years of federal service.
Greg was a man of many interests and had a passion for learning and enjoyed researching and discussing topics pertaining to the fields of mathematics, science, and philosophy. Greg thoroughly enjoyed music, and playing guitar and keyboard brought him particular joy. He was an avid gamer who loved and excelled at the game of chess. His zest for listening to the reading of a variety of genre of books on compact disc provided him endless hours of pleasure.
In addition to his parents, Greg is survived by his wife of 5 years, the former Molly B. Lamoreaux; maternal Aunt Janice (Hamre) Markland, New Orleans; paternal Uncle Walter D. Robinson, Austin, Texas; cousins, and dear friends; his beloved pets, 8-month-old Black Labrador, Nikon and 6-year-old Black Labrador, Raven. Greg was preceded in death by his younger brother, Douglas Brian Robinson in 1999.
A Memorial will be held at Picatinny Army Arsenal Chapel on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 1:30 pm. Attendance for the Memorial at the Army Base must be reserved by contacting Jennifer Lamoreaux or Janna Baum at jbaum@pmsd.org. Entrance to Picatinny Arsenal Army Base requires photo identification and all attendees must be identified on or before October 29, 2015.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Corpus Christi Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave, West Pittston, PA on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 12 noon. Interment will be Maple Grove Cemetery, Pikes Creek.
Memorial donations, if desired, can be made to the Gregory A. Robinson Scholarship for a Pocono Mountain East High School graduate pursuing a degree in Economics or Political Science. Donations can be mailed to John P. Lamoreaux, Pocono Mountain West Junior High School, 180 Panther Lane, Pocono Summit 18346. Checks should be made payable to Molly Lamoreaux-Robinson.
Bolock Funeral Home, Paradise Valley was entrusted with cremation. Burial and military honors were coordinated by Swanson Funeral Home, Pikes Creek, PA.
