Obituary of Mildred Arlene Starr

Mildred Arlene Starr Arlene Starr, 92, of Arrowhead Lakes, Pocono Lake, passed away Friday, December 4, 2015 at St. Luke's Villa in Wilkes-Barre. She was the wife of the late James Starr with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. Born on September 10, 1923, in Danville, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Blanche (Gelnett) Reabuck. Arlene moved to New Jersey after being married and lived there for many years working as a secretary in the accounting department at W.B. Driver in Newark, N.J. until her retirement. She then returned to the Poconos where she was very active in her community belonging to the Red Hats, the Women's Club, and was instrumental in running the bus trips for the Arrowhead Seniors. Arlene was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Mark's Church, Thornhurst. Arlene is survived by her daughter, Nancy Bielski of Pocono Lake; two granddaughters: Linda Jankowski and her husband, Joseph of East Haddam, Connecticut, and Susan Moynihan and her husband, Timothy of Oceanside, CA; two great-grandsons: Timothy Jacob and Andrew Patrick Moynihan of CA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, and three sisters, Howard, Fianna, Helen, Jay, Edgar and Edna. There will be a viewing from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 8 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Reverend Father William Karle will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 9 at St. Mark's Church, Thornhurst. There will be a viewing from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Wilkes-Barre. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, St. Elizabeth's/St. Mark's Church, PO Box 25, Bear Creek, PA or your local animal shelter or ASPCA.
