Obituary of Norman Keiper

Norman "Jake" Leroy Keiper, Sr., 79, of Swiftwater, died peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at his home. He is survived by his loving companion of 16 years, Roberta "Bobbie" Fischer. Born in Pocono Lake, he was the son of the late Leroy and Helen (Stout) Keiper. Before his retirement, Jake worked for Sanofi Pasteur for 42 years, first as a stable hand and later as a mail carrier. He was a proud member of Sanofi Pasteur's 20 Year Club. Jake was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time at his property in Henderson, NY. He was a collector of antiques and model T cars and spent much of his younger years traveling the country. One of his most memorable trips was the seven weeks he had spent in Alaska with his sisterJane. He was known for his stories, sense of humor and the jokes that he used to tell. He was loved by all and will be deeply missed. In addition to his companion Bobbie, he is also survived by his wife, whom he had been separated; Margaret "Peg" (Werkheiser) Keiper of Stroudsburg; a son; Norman "Jakie" Leroy Keiper, Jr. of Stroudsburg; two brothers: James Keiper and his wife Alice of Pocono Lake; Raymond Keiper and his wife Eleanor of Pocono Lake; three sisters: Jane Fisk of Cresco, Mary Hamill and her husband Tom of Pocono Pines, Patricia Carson and her husband John of Pocono Lake; a granddaughter: Tiffany St. Clair and her husband Donald of Marshalls Creek; two great granddaughters: Rowan and Charly St. Clair; his loving dog, Bear, and several nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation on Saturday, December 3 from10:00 to 12:00pm at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Cresco. Pastor George Alt of the Canadensis United Methodist Church will conduct a Memorial Service at 12:00pm at the funeral home.
