Obituary of Joseph Alvin Smith

Joseph Alvin Smith, 56, of Henryville, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, December 23 at his home. Born in East Stroudsburg, he was a son of the late Alvin and Lillian (Mader) Smith. Joseph was a graduate of Pocono Mountain High School class of 1978. He was owner and operator of Long Pond Rentals, LLC, and was employed with Alvin Smith and Sons Excavating. Joseph was a life member of the Pocono Township Volunteer Fire Company. He is survived by his brother, Rodger Smith of Long Pond; sisters: Barbara Hineline of Henryville, Connie Simpson of Long Pond, and Diane Smith of Long Pond; uncle, Earl Smith of Long Pond; aunts: Shirley Smith of Long Pond, Margie Woehrle of Mount Pocono, and Ellmae Smith of Bethlehem; several nieces, nephews and his beloved cat, Frankie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pocono Township Fire Company, PO Box 197, Tannersville, PA 18372 or the Central Pocono EMS, PO Box 138, Tannersville, PA 18372. Services will be private. Cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
