Obituary of Michael Giangrande
Michael Giangrande, 83, formerly of Pleasant Valley Manor died Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the loving husband of Vivette (Crooks) Giangrande.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of the late Arthur and Mary Domtrica (Scutari) Giangrande.
A member of Most Holy Trinity Parish, Michael was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Knights of Columbus Baron DeKalb Council in Brooklyn. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1106 in Stroudsburg, Ball Park Ticket Sellers Union F72 in N.Y. and the Exhibition Employees Union #829 also in N.Y. He worked for the Mets, Jets, at Madison Square Garden and at the Jacob Javitts Center in NYC.
Michael enjoyed sports, especially baseball, boxing, bowling, playing tennis, racquetball and horseback riding. He especially liked to dance and would be the first on the dance floor and the last off. Michael was known for his sense of humor and always trying to make people smile.
In addition to his wife, Vivette, he is survived by his daughter, Deborah Fafara and her husband, Al of Bogota, N.J.; brothers: Gus Giangrande and Arthur Giangrande of N.Y.; grandchildren: Alex Fafara of New Hampshire, Theresa Fafara and Katie Fafara both of Bogota, N.J.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. His Aunt Fran and Uncle Gus Scutari of Syosset, N.Y. Best friends, Tom Gilmore of New York and Vio Mocuta of Florida who he considered his "other brothers". Also Loi & Yo Truong and their children Joshua and Laura who considered Michael their Surrogate grandfather.
There will be a viewing from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, February 4, at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Friday, February 5, at the Villa of Our Lady, 245 Meadowside Road, Mount Pocono.
