Obituary of Nicholas Potito
Nicholas Potito, 81, of Paradise Valley, died on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at his home, with his loving wife of 45 years, Elizabeth (Nickas) Potito, by his side.
Nick was born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 10, 1934, to the late John and Rose (Venezia) Potito.
He attended the School of Industrial Arts, and went on to a career as a typesetter. He was a journeyman printer and member of the New York's Big 6 Union of the International Typographers Union. Nick enjoyed a second career at the Atlantic Recording Studios, retiring from his position as studio librarian on the day his grandson, John, was born. He was a lector at St. Joseph Parish in Astoria, New York, and continued that ministry for many years at St. Mary of the Mount and Most Holy Trinity Parish.
In addition to his wife, Elizabeth, he is survived by his son, Nicholas Potito and his wife, Lori; his grandchildren: John Potito, Alexis Clelland and Roberto Montanez; his brother, Aurelio Potito and his wife, MaryAnn; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his grand- and great-grandnieces and -nephews. Nick was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret.
There will be a visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Rev. John Boyle will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at Villa of Our Lady, 245 Meadowside Road, Mount Pocono.
The family wishes to extend its gratitude to Pocono Medical Center, especially CV-Tele; Visiting Nurse Association, especially Lori Ann; Compassionate Care Hospice; Dr. Robert Malcolm III and his P.A.s, particularly Marissa and Tiffany; and most importantly to Dr. Peter Casale, who kept him healthy for so very long, and whose care and compassion helped in every step along the way.
Memorial donations may be made to Most Holy Trinity Parish, 236 Route 390, Cresco, PA 18326.
Private cremation is entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
