Obituary of David J. Dennis

David J. Dennis, 55, of Tobyhanna, passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, in Dunmore after a courageous battle with mesothelioma. He was the loving husband of Ellen (Barbieri) Dennis, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage. Born in Kingston, he was the son of Clarence and the late Anne (Butwin) Dennis. Dave was a 1979 graduate of Pocono Mountain High School, where he was a proud member of the “Marching 100.” He then traveled the country, working construction in Texas and Georgia before returning to Pennsylvania to raise his family. He was a member of Carpenters Local 600 and worked in the Allentown/Bethlehem area for 23 years. Dave enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially fly fishing for salmon. He loved classic rock music, and performed as a drummer for many local bands. In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his precious daughters, Sarah and Hannah; and his brothers: Michael and wife, Lori, Patrick and wife, Nina, and Thomas and wife, Michelle. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anne. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tobyhanna Conservation Association, P.O. Box 808, Tobyhanna, PA 18466, or to the PMW Music Boosters Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 458, Pocono Summit, PA 18346. Private cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
