Obituary of Charles Whitcomb
Charles “Allen” Whitcomb, 77, of Buck Hill Falls, died April 12, 2016, at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey.
Born in Los Angeles, California, he was the son of the late Charles and Marguerite (Luke) Whitcomb.
Allen was the founder of an advertising company, Whitcomb & Associates Inc. of Atlantic City, New Jersey. He studied architecture for four years at the University of California, Berkeley. A passionate lover of antiques, Allen owned Whitcomb Antiques in Mountainhome, and was a beloved antique dealer at New Jersey markets, especially in Wayne, New Jersey. As a volunteer for Sheep Shed, he delivered furniture to victims of domestic violence. Allen loved his cats, Luke and Lola, classic movies, The New York Times Book Review, “Big Red,” Broadway shows, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, and Atlantic City. Allen had many friends with whom he shared a deep bond, and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his sister, Marguerite Quinn of Cresco; his half-sister, Robin Whitcomb Selvig of Carmel, California; Alicia and Gabriel Herz, whom he loved as his own children; and his dear friends: James Lommori, Laif Hanson, Michelle Gabler, Michael and Roseanne Walters, and Karen and Paul Tetor.
Private cremation is entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
