Obituary of Marjorie E. Pitts

Marjorie E. Pitts, 85, of Effort, died Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Pleasant Valley Manor in Stroudsburg. She was the loving wife of Thomas W. Pitts, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, she was a daughter of the late John Holder and Ethel Battiste. Marjorie attended the City University of New York, and worked as a CNA until her retirement. She loved children, and over the years, fostered many, and adopted five in addition to her own. She was a member and staunch supporter of Stroudsburg Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she sang in the choir. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons: Pierre Holder, Davon Speaks, Robert Pitts and Joseph Pitts; adopted daughters: Angela Clarke, Eulalie Mitchell and Linda Pitts; five sisters; three brothers; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by one son, Wayne Holder. A viewing will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of service Thursday, May 26, at Stroudsburg Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2085 W. Main St., Stroudsburg. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 27, at Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
