Obituary of David L. Black

David L. Black, 78, of Pocono Pines, died Friday June 17, 2016, at home. He was the loving husband of Barbara Ann (Rossano) Black, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. He was born in Manhattan, New York, son of the late Harold and Isabel (Bate) Black. A proud veteran, David served six years with the U.S. Army. After service, he became the director of the original Clairol Carousel, which he took cross country. Following that, he was vice president of Parents Magazine's Film Division in New York City. After Parents Magazine, he formed his own company, Delby Associates, creating various educational interactive audio cassettes. Later in life, he worked in the supermarket industry as a management training supervisor. Upon retirement, he became actively involved in education and social issues, and was a volunteer tutor for Northampton Community College. His creative spirit endured through his sculpting, painting and furniture making. He was an avid fisherman, often creating his own lures. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother, Jasson Salganik of Coney Island, New York, and his niece, Jennifer Lapidow of California. Private cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, 237 E. Brown St., East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
