Obituary of Gloria M. Nicholson

Gloria M. Nicholson, 90, of Elmhurst, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 27, 2016 at St. Mary's Villa. She was the loving wife of the late Thomas E. Nicholson, whom passed away in 2009. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice Morrow. At the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, she joined the WWII effort as a WAVE in the Marine Corps. Gloria was invariably gracious. She reveled in the joy of having great-grandchildren, with whom she shared mutual adoration. But most of all, Gloria will forever be remembered for her wit. Her eloquent gift of gab undoubtedly left a lasting impression on all. An immense gratitude is extended to all of Gloria’s caregivers at St. Mary’s Villa. We will always remember the kindness and love you gave to Gloria. She is survived by her devoted sons: T. Steven Nicholson and wife, Nancy (Florida), and Thomas E. Nicholson, Jr. (Florida); beloved daughters: Patricia N. Pisko (Dunmore), and Denise Nicholson and husband, Nicholas Zarelli (Tobyhanna); six cherished grandchildren: Andrew Pisko, Matthew Pisko, Stephanie Pisko, Patrick Nicholson, Eileen Nicholson, and Kelly Nicholson; adored great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by her two brothers, John and David, and her first-born grandson, Bradley Pisko. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date. Private cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory. Gloria will be interred with her late husband, Thomas, at the National Veteran's Cemetery in Florida.
