Obituary of Richard W. Evans

Richard W. Evans, 76, of Pocono Lake, died Saturday, July 2, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley in Wilkes-Barre. He was the loving husband of Francine (Lembo) Evans, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage. He was born in Nanticoke. Richard was Lieutenant of the Long Beach Fire Department in Long Beach, Long Island, before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, and belonged to a fishing club. He loved spending time with his family on the lake while entertaining them with his great sense of humor. Richard was a talented woodworker and carpenter who could fix almost anything, and enjoyed riding his Harley. He loved playing cards with his friends. He was a member of the International Association of Firefighters, an active member of the Arrowhead Lake Association, and was of the Catholic faith. In addition to his wife, Fran, he is survived by two sons: Chris Evans and wife, Tima, and his beloved granddaughter, Emma, of Wernersville; and John Evans of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and one sister, Patsy Adams. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, July 8 at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. There will be a visitation from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Private cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
