Obituary of Denise Shannon

Denise Shannon, 57, of Swiftwater, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at her home. She was the loving companion and wife to Mike Shannon, with whom she shared 16 years. Born in Abington, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Engle) Hurlock. Denise was employed with Pocono Mountain School District as a bus driver for the last 15 years. She was an avid gardener who took pride in her labors. She was also dedicated to raising and caring for many chickens over the years that would eventually all become part of her family. In addition to her husband, Mike, she is survived by her son, John Leonard of Swiftwater; daughters: Kimothy Swartly and her husband, Dwight of New Hampshire and Sara Leonard of Mount Pocono; brothers: Douglas Hurlock of Pottstown, David Hurlock of Gilbert, and Daniel Hurlock of Lake Wallenpaupak. There will be a visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, July 18 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise valley Road, Cresco. Services and burial will be private.
