Obituary of John W. Schwab

John W. Schwab, 85, of Long Pond, formerly of Levittown, died Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Spring Village at Pocono in East Stroudsburg. He was the loving husband of the late Jane Schwab. Born in Port Carbon, he was the son of the late John and Elvera (Jennsen) Schwab. John was the epitome of dutiful and faithful service. He proudly served with the United States Navy from 1948-1949 and later retired from the Bristol Township Police Department in 1985. While serving with the police department he became a member of the Bucks County Fraternal Order of Police # PA-53. During those years he also became an Arson Investigator and Volunteer Fire Fighter for Levittown Fire Company #2. After moving to the Pocono Mountains, John joined the American Legion Post #413 in Pocono Pines, where he would meet many friends and fellow comrades over the years. He was an avid sports fan, formerly playing on Bristol Township Police Department’s softball team and never missing a Philadelphia Eagles or Phillies game on TV. In his younger years, he enjoyed spending time hunting for game. He is survived by his children, John P. Schwab and his wife, Sandy of South Park, Gery Vaughan of Columbus, NJ, Mary Cooper and her husband, Chris of Trevose, Patricia Webster and her husband, Nick of Philadelphia, and Margaret Snare and husband, Jim of Pocono Summit; 11 grandchildren: Richard, Alycia, Jane, Katie, Cody, Kyle, Austin, Jason, Tyler, Lexie, and Avery; great-grandchild, Tayten. He was preceded in death by his brother William (Bill) Schwab. There will be a visitation from 10 am to 12 pm on Saturday, October 1st at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. There will be a Blessing service at 12 pm at the funeral home. Private cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
