Obituary of Michael Maiorana
Michael Robert Maiorana, 22, of Long Pond, died as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Saturday, October 29.
Born in Meadowbrook, he was the only son of Jeffrey and Beth (DeKett) Maiorana.
A kindred spirit, Michael lived his short years to the fullest. He was athletic, having played soccer for both Monsignor McHugh and Pocono Mountain West. He was a skier, a snowboarder and a skateboarder. He was an outdoor sportsman who loved to fish, often finding any spare moment to cast his reel, but most of all he was a loving and devoted son, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend.
From a young age, Michael began working alongside of his dad in the family business, JRM Flooring. At the age of 19 he began working at FedEx and quickly moved his way up the company ladder becoming a Supervisor at the age of 20. He was the epitome of hard work and will be remembered for his dedication and unstoppable zest for life.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandfather: Robert E. DeKett of Philadelphia, paternal grandmother: Betty Troemel of Philadelphia; uncles: Robert S. DeKett, Jim Maiorana, Nick Maiorana; aunt: Angie Reber and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, whom he adored, Jean DeKett and his nephew Brandon.
