Obituary of Robert R. O'Rourke

Robert R. O’Rourke, 59, of Cresco, died on Monday, October 31 at the Pocono Health System VNA Hospice House in Monroe County. He was the loving husband of Ellen Manning-O’Rourke with whom he shared 22 years of marriage. Born in Jersey City, N.J. he was a son of Dawn (McGinley) O’Rourke of Jersey City, N.J. and the late Robert O'Rourke. Robert loved the simple things in life, his family, his dog, his home here in the Pocono’s and spending time fishing. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Eagles. A United States Army veteran, Robert served in the Vietnam War. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 102, where he worked as a Journeyman Electrician, until his illness. In addition to his wife, Ellen, he is survived by a son: Sean O’Rourke of Piscataway, NJ; brothers: Douglas O’Rourke, George Pallay; sisters: April O’Rourke, Lori Smith, Eva Pallay, Lisa Jacob; his mother-in-law: Corrine Manning; sister-in-law: Barbara Engel; brother-in-law: Robert Manning and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Vincent O’Rourke and Christopher Smith. There will be a visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, November 5 at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. Deacon Philip Zimich will conduct a blessing service at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Private cremation is entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
