Obituary of Mildred Keel-Williams
Mildred Keel-Williams, 62, of Tobyhanna, died Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the VNA Hospice House in East Stroudsburg. She was the loving wife of Michael G. Williams, with whom she shared 34 years of marriage.
Born in Chadbourn, North Carolina, she was the eldest daughter of Alice (Suggs) Keel of Southport, North Carolina and the late Clarence Keel.
Mildred worked alongside State Senator and former Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz in New York City. After working for the Senator, she spent the next 25 years with Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation in Brooklyn, New York. Mildred was an active member of local churches. She enjoyed painting, and was a member of the Pocono Arts Council.
In addition to her husband, and mother, she is survived by her daughter, Mari Aiesha Williams, sisters: Melody Williams, Marilyn Simmons, Beverly Federick, Sylvia Keel, half brother Earl Underwood and half sisters Jetonga and Tamesha Keel.
There will be a viewing from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 12 at the Mount Pocono United Methodist Church located at 12 Church Ave., Mount Pocono. Pastor Samuel Kofi Ashley will conduct a service at 2 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Michael G. Williams.
Private cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
