Obituary of Fannie Howell

Fannie Howell, 85, of Tobyhanna, died Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. She was the loving wife of the late Seymour Howell. Born in Washington County, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Taylor and Luvenia P. (Smith) Womble. Fannie was an active member of Tobyhanna United Methodist Church; there she was known as a "second grandmother" to many of the young parishioners. She was a member of the prayer ministry and was an active member of the United Methodist Women where she assisted in organizing many events within the church. She welcomed everyone with a warm smile, an encouraging word, and a helping hand; and all with dignity, beauty, and grace. She is survived by her nephews, Johnny and Donald Womble; nieces, Mary Ingeram, Brenda Brooks, Wylene Womble, and Francine Farrar; many great-nieces and nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Womble; sister Viola Willis; half brother, Mark Womble and niece, Priscilla Smith. There will be a viewing from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, December 31 at Tobyhanna United Methodist Church. Pastor Jessica Ross will conduct a service at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Keokee Chapel Cemetery, Cresco.
