Obituary of Marjorie J. Dominick
Marjorie J. Dominick, of Pocono Lake, died on Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. She was the loving wife of Leonard Dominick, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.
Born to George and Doris (Hunt) Henney in Wilkes-Barre, she was raised by George and Jean Seymour.
Marjorie was a graduate of Bloomsburg University, where she received a bachelor's degree in education. Upon graduation, she continued her education and received a master's degree at Temple University in Philadelphia. She worked for Bristol Township School District as an elementary school teacher and reading specialist until her retirement in 1993.
Marjorie was a loving wife, sister, aunt and friend, and the epitome of a kind soul. She treated everyone with love and respect and in return was loved by all who knew her. Her warm and caring nature didn't stop with people, it carried on with animals who never knew the meaning of love. As a teacher, she had a door in her classroom that led to the outside, where she often would find a stray dog in need. Not only would Marjorie take in these dogs, but she would get them medical care and make certain each one found a loving family and home.
She was known for her exceptional culinary skills and hosting her family and friends with meals that left them asking for more. She was an avid reader who took great pride in teaching this gift to children, including her younger brother, Ronald, when they were just children. She and Leonard traveled the world together, visiting places like Europe, Canada and covering ground across the USA. Maine was one of Marjorie's favorite places. They would travel there each year in time to see the changing of the seasons.
In addition to her husband, Leonard, she is survived by her brother, Ronald Henney and his wife, Norma, of Estero, Florida; and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers: George, Barry and Jerry.
There will be a viewing from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. Father Louis Grippe will conduct a Blessing service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery Mausoleum in Stroudsburg.
