Obituary of Dolores W. James

Dolores W. James, 65, of Long Pond, died unexpectedly, Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at home. She was the loving wife of Harold Anthony James, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage. Born in Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late Weldon and Nellie Tharp. She retired as a supervisor for the Social Security Administration, where she worked for 36 years. In 1998, Dolores and her family moved to the Poconos, where she became an active member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish and served as a Eucharistic minister, CCD teacher and on the parish council. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Michael James of Long Pond; her daughter, Toni Purcell and her husband, Jeffrey, of East Stroudsburg; and two grandchildren, Noah and Autumn Purcell, both of East Stroudsburg. There will be a viewing from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Rev. Gregory Loughney will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 5112 Pocono Crest Road, Pocono Pines. Burial will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
