Obituary of Edward Aalbue

Edward John Aalbue, 82, of Tobyhanna, entered into eternal life on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at the Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was the loving husband of the late Catherine (Dooley) Aalbue.

Born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York, he was a son to the late Edward L. and Marie (Hoearey) Aalbue.

A proud veteran, Edward served with the U.S. Navy. Before retirement, he worked for the American Bell Telephone Company in New York City. He was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Tobyhanna, where he served as an acolyte and extraordinary minister for many years. Edward was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4159, the American Legion Post 413, the Coffey-Wilson Post, Brooklyn, New York, the VFW and Telephone Pioneers, and he was the founding member of the Pocono Farms Crime Watch.

He is survived by his son, John Aalbue of Tobyhanna; brother, Raymond Aalbue and his wife, Marianne, of Brooklyn, New York; brother-in-law, Michael Cecere of Carle Place, New York; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Edward Gerard Aalbue; a brother, Richard Aalbue; and a sister, Margaret Cecere.

There will be a viewing from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Rev. Gregory Loughney will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, at the Church of St. Ann, 1600 Church St., Tobyhanna. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 3620 Tilden Avenue, Brooklyn, New York.
